The Best Big Sister

2 Months and 2 Years

Emma was very excited during this pregnancy to meet Jelly Bean even though I'm not sure she really understood exactly how her life was going to change.  For the longest time, she talked about playing with Jelly Bean so I thought she was expecting another two year old to show up!

This is not the first time Mom "coordinated" our outfits.

Emma is a really great big sister and "loves" Nea (as she calls her). She is always "checking" on Linnea when she cries or even when she is just awake. We explained to Emma that crying was Linnea's way of telling us that she needed something. So whenever Linnea cried we ask Emma what she thinks Linnea needs and for the first two months, she would say something like: "She needs milk from Momma" or "Momma come pick the baby up". Or when she is crying, Emma will go and rescue her. She gets so excited when Linnea is awake and always tells me when she is awake.

Tummy Time!

Emma is also a great tummy time buddy, even though she thinks tummy time is anytime Linnea is on the play "jungle" mat. She will even make crying noises like Linnea does during tummy time. Here is a photo of Emma helping Linnea with tummy time.

Pajama Time

For the first few months whenever Emma woke up from a nap she would say to me to me "Nea's big sister woke up" or "Nea's big sister is awake". Emma talks to Linnea and tells her all about her day or what she doing, eating, playing, etc. The more mobile Linnea gets the more they can "play" together.

Linnea is also extremely amused and entertained by Emma. She watches her when ever they are in the same room. If Emma starts crying, Linnea usually starts in too-- let me me tell you how much fun that is.

I'm sure that there will be plenty of fighting in the years to come, but for now I'm enjoying how much Emma is loving having a little sister an even more how much Linnea LOVES Emma.
